  Found out at 2:30 in the morning that we were the ONLY people at the hostel when the fire alarm went off and not even the owners were there to shut it off. Thank you Honokaa fire dept for turning off the fire alarm.

  Met Martin & Emmanuelle(cool couple from Switzerland) who so graciously offered for us to pitch our tent next to theirs. We helped them in return by showing them that not all Americans camp in RV's and use golf carts to drive themselves to the bathroom.

  Glad the tornadoes and rain stopped so we could camp out. Found a cool park and asked a local policeman if we could camp and he said "no camping allowed there", asked him one more time if we could camp and then be on our way early in the morning and he said " well, I ain't gonna give ya any grief...   Great ride out of Phoenix w ben and Gary from paragon cycling, mesa. Robert chacon of www.we-cycle-usa.com was incredible to us in Phoenix. We are camping in the mountains at an abandoned state park on a closed road... So cool! Can't believe this place is a one day ride out of a huge city.

  Palo verde trailer park. Friendly neighbors built us a fire and offered us dinner. Small town, 200 pop. Shower felt good after a rough day in the desert. Within an hour half the town knew we were here. Met the sheriff and fire cheif. Incredible sunset!

  Staying at brian's house. Continually being surprised by the generosity of cyclists. Such an amazing community of people. Brian is a warmshowers.org member that has put us up in his spare bedroom. • I spoke with you outside the IGA in Heber today (Jan. 25) about the elevation and road to Holbrook. I couldn't stop thinking about your adventure and just had to do a Google search for a couple bike-riding through all 50 states.
